Patrick Jennings' latest effort, Immediate, much like the name implies, does not waste time. Non-stop hooks and well-crafted lyrics, delivered with Patrick's unique style, hit from the moment you press play. A no-frills recording adds to the urgency of the guitar-centered album. The sound is raw enough to evoke a live show, but recorded with attention to detail beyond the realm of lo-fi. Jennings' songs are not obvious reflections of a scene, do not rely on punk or rock formulas. Second verse not the same as the first. The not-so-secret weapon of Jennings' songwriting is his voice and delivery, which are on full display for this album. Immediate is a stand-out album from an already respected and varied catalog. Patrick Jennings continues to deliver with Immediate, a solid, not to be ignored release of 2019.
